Pick your city above to see today’s prayer time in the UAE, a live countdown to the next azan, and the full month. This guide explains why the times move, how the emirates differ, and how to handle Friday, Eid, and Ramadan without missing a prayer with Everlist.
How prayer time works in the UAE
The UAE observes five daily prayers: Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha. The sun sets each time, so the schedule shifts by about a minute every few days and differs slightly between cities.

Three facts answer most questions:
- Dubai is the usual reference. Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain share the same published times.
- Other cities run a fixed number of minutes apart. Abu Dhabi runs 4 minutes later, and Fujairah runs 6 minutes earlier.
- Friday is different. Awqaf moved the Friday sermon and prayer to 12:45 PM from 2 January 2026.
The UAE stays on UTC+4 all year and does not change its clocks, so times never jump by an hour.
Prayer time by emirate
Emirates 24/7 publishes IACAD-based times for each city using fixed adjustments from Dubai. Use the difference column to convert any Dubai timetable. The example shows Thursday, 5 November 2026.
| City | Difference from Dubai | Fajr | Dhuhr | Asr | Maghrib | Isha |
| Dubai | Reference | 5:10 AM | 12:05 PM | 3:14 PM | 5:39 PM | 6:55 PM |
| Sharjah | Same | 5:10 AM | 12:05 PM | 3:14 PM | 5:39 PM | 6:55 PM |
| Ajman | Same | 5:10 AM | 12:05 PM | 3:14 PM | 5:39 PM | 6:55 PM |
| Umm Al Quwain | Same | 5:10 AM | 12:05 PM | 3:14 PM | 5:39 PM | 6:55 PM |
| Abu Dhabi | 4 min later | 5:14 AM | 12:09 PM | 3:18 PM | 5:43 PM | 6:59 PM |
| Al Ain | 2 min earlier | 5:08 AM | 12:03 PM | 3:12 PM | 5:37 PM | 6:53 PM |
| Ras Al Khaimah | 4 min earlier | 5:06 AM | 12:01 PM | 3:10 PM | 5:35 PM | 6:51 PM |
| Fujairah | 6 min earlier | 5:04 AM | 11:59 AM | 3:08 PM | 5:33 PM | 6:49 PM |
The gap follows geography. The sun reaches the east coast first, so Fujairah prays before Dubai, and Abu Dhabi prays after it.
Prayer time in Dubai (مواقيت الصلاة دبي)
Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD) oversees mosque affairs in the emirate. Most Dubai searches, including azan time, salah time, and namaz timings, lead to the same timetable. Select Dubai in the widget for today’s times and the full month.
Prayer time in Abu Dhabi (وقت الصلاة في أبوظبي)
Abu Dhabi city runs 4 minutes behind Dubai on the published tables. Fajr time in Abu Dhabi on 5 November 2026 was 5:14 AM, against 5:10 AM in Dubai. Al Ain sits further east and runs 6 minutes ahead of Abu Dhabi city, so select it separately.
Prayer time in Sharjah (وقت الصلاة في الشارقة)
Sharjah’s daily times match Dubai on the published tables. Friday needs extra care, as the Friday section below explains. If you live in Sharjah and work in Dubai, check the Friday time for the mosque you plan to use.
Azan time in Ras Al Khaimah (موعد الأذان في رأس الخيمة)
Ras Al Khaimah runs 4 minutes ahead of Dubai. A Dubai Maghrib at 5:39 PM means a Ras Al Khaimah azan at about 5:35 PM.
The five prayers and when each one starts
Each prayer has a start point in the sun’s daily path and runs until the next prayer time begins.

| Prayer | Arabic | Starts | Time ends | Obligatory rakats |
| Fajr | الفجر | First light before sunrise | At sunrise | 2 |
| Dhuhr | الظهر | After the sun passes its highest point | When Asr starts | 4 |
| Asr | العصر | Late afternoon, set by shadow length | At sunset | 4 |
| Maghrib | المغرب | Just after sunset | When Isha starts | 3 |
| Isha | العشاء | After twilight fades | Before Fajr | 4 |
Sunrise, or Shuruq, is not a prayer. It appears on timetables because it marks the end of Fajr time.
When is Maghrib?
Maghrib starts just after sunset, and the time changes with the season. In Dubai, it falls at 5:32 PM in late November and reaches about 7:16 PM in early July. Maghrib also marks iftar during Ramadan, so check it daily in that month.
Asr time in Dubai and the Hanafi difference
UAE timetables start at Asr when an object’s shadow equals its own length. Our comparison below confirmed this against the published Dubai tables. The Hanafi school starts Asr when the shadow reaches twice the object’s length.
Many residents from South Asia follow the Hanafi timing, and no major UAE table we reviewed shows it. By our calculation, Hanafi Asr in Dubai falls about 44 to 81 minutes after the published time, depending on the season. On 5 November 2026, that meant about 4:01 PM instead of 3:14 PM. Treat this as an estimate, and ask your imam which timing to follow.
Why your app and the mosque show different times
Apps calculate times with a chosen method, and a wrong setting can move Fajr and Isha by several minutes. The most common cause is an app set to a fixed Isha rule.

We tested this directly. We compared 71 days of published UAE timetable data, from September to November 2026, against a solar calculation. An 18.2-degree sun angle for Fajr and Isha, plus fixed adjustments for the other times, matched every value within one minute. AlAdhan lists this same angle as its Dubai method, while noting that the method is not an official calculation.
The practical result shows up at Isha. Published UAE times place Isha about 74 to 87 minutes after Maghrib, based on that same calculation. On 5 November, the gap in Dubai was 76 minutes. An app that always adds 90 minutes would show 7:09 PM instead of 6:55 PM, which is 14 minutes late.
To fix your app:
- Choose “Dubai” or “UAE” as the calculation method if the app offers one.
- Set your exact city rather than relying on a country-level setting.
- Compare Fajr and Isha with IACAD or the widget above.
- Add a manual adjustment if the app still differs by more than a minute or two.
Emirates 24/7 notes that its times may vary by 1 to 2 minutes from local mosque announcements. When your mosque differs slightly, follow your mosque for congregation.
How prayer times change through the year
Fajr moves by nearly two hours across the year in Dubai, and Isha moves by a similar amount. These are our calculated ranges for 2027, so confirm exact dates against the official timetable.
| Prayer | Earliest in Dubai | Latest in Dubai |
| Fajr | 3:58 AM (mid June) | 5:45 AM (mid January) |
| Dhuhr | 12:05 PM (early November) | 12:36 PM (mid February) |
| Asr | 3:09 PM (late November) | 3:54 PM (mid-March) |
| Maghrib | 5:32 PM (late November) | 7:16 PM (early July) |
| Isha | 6:50 PM (late November) | 8:43 PM (late June) |
Review your alarms each month. A Fajr alarm set in January would ring more than 1.5 hours too late by June.
Friday prayer time in the UAE
The Friday sermon and prayer start at 12:45 PM. The General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat announced the change for mosques nationwide, effective 2 January 2026. It replaced the 1:15 PM start that most emirates had used since 2022.
Gulf News reported the reasons as a single national schedule and easier planning for families, workers and students. The time stays fixed through the year, unlike Dhuhr. The Dhuhr azan still follows the daily timetable, so you may hear it well before 12:45 PM.
Does Sharjah follow the 12:45 PM time?
Sources disagree, so confirm with your mosque. Gulf News described a unified time across all emirates and mosques. The National reported on 2 January 2026 that Sharjah did not change its Friday prayer time, citing the emirate’s four-day week. Sharjah’s Friday prayer had run at around 12:20 PM before then. A later Bayut guide lists around 12:45 PM.
Planning your Friday
- Arrive by 12:30 PM. Authorities urge worshippers to come early so they do not miss the sermon.
- Block 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM in your work calendar, and allow extra time for parking at busy mosques.
- If you cross into Sharjah for work, check that mosque’s time before you rely on 12:45 PM.
Eid prayer timing in the UAE
Eid prayers usually begin15 to 20 minutes after sunrise, so the time moves with the season and the city. These are the most recently published times.
| City | Eid Al Fitr 2026 | Eid Al Adha 2026 |
| Abu Dhabi | 6:43 AM | 5:51 AM |
| Dubai | 6:40 AM | 5:45 AM |
| Sharjah | 6:39 AM | 5:45 AM |
| Ajman | 6:39 AM | 5:45 AM |
| Umm Al Quwain | 6:39 AM | 5:44 AM |
| Ras Al Khaimah | 6:37 AM | 5:43 AM |
| Fujairah | 6:36 AM | 5:43 AM |
Some sites published Eid Al Fitr 2026 times that fell before sunrise, such as 6:18 AM for Dubai when sunrise came after 6:20 AM. Use the sunrise rule as a quick check. An Eid time before sunrise is wrong.
Next Eid dates and estimated prayer times
Gulf News lists tentative 2027 dates, and the authorities confirm them after the moon sighting. Applying the sunrise rule to our calculated Dubai sunrise gives these estimates, not official times:
- Eid Al Fitr: Expected 9 or 10 March 2027, with prayer around 6:45 to 6:51 AM in Dubai.
- Eid Al Adha: Holiday expected 15 to 18 May 2027, with prayer around 5:46 to 5:51 AM in Dubai.
Check the official notice a few days before Eid, including the place of prayer. In March 2026, authorities held Eid Al Fitr prayers in approved mosques and not in open prayer grounds. For Eid Al Adha 2026, Sharjah offered Eid sermons in Urdu, Malayalam, Tamil, and English at over 90 mosques.
Prayer times during Ramadan
Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on Monday, 8 February, subject to the moon sighting. Two times on the daily timetable set the fast:
- Suhoor ends at Fajr. Finish eating before Fajr time, and leave a safety margin.
- Iftar starts at Maghrib. Break your fast when the Maghrib azan sounds in your own city.
A Dubai resident visiting Fujairah breaks the fast 6 minutes earlier than at home. A visitor to Abu Dhabi waits 4 minutes longer. Taraweeh follows Isha, so check your mosque’s own schedule for that prayer.
Azan and iqama: how long do you have?
The azan announces that prayer time has started. The iqama is the second call, given just before the congregation begins. One UAE timetable publisher states these gaps, and the widget uses them as a guide:
| Prayer | Typical gap after azan |
| Fajr | 25 minutes |
| Dhuhr | 20 minutes |
| Asr | 20 minutes |
| Maghrib | 5 minutes |
| Isha | 20 minutes |
Mosques can differ, so read the board at the one you attend. Plan most carefully for Maghrib, because its 5-minute gap leaves little room to park and perform wudu.
Frequently asked questions
What is the prayer time in the UAE today?
The widget at the top of this page shows today’s Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha for each city, in UAE time. Select your city, because times can differ by up to 10 minutes across the country.
Is prayer time the same in every emirate?
No. Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain share one published timetable. Abu Dhabi runs 4 minutes later, Al Ain 2 minutes earlier, Ras Al Khaimah 4 minutes earlier and Fujairah 6 minutes earlier.
What time is Fajr in Abu Dhabi?
Fajr in Abu Dhabi falls 4 minutes after Dubai on the published tables. It ranged from 5:12 AM to 5:28 AM during November 2026, and it moves earlier in summer.
What time is Friday prayer in Dubai?
The Friday sermon and prayer start at 12:45 PM in Dubai. This time has been in effect since 2 January 2026 and does not change with the seasons.
What is the difference between azan and iqama?
The azan tells people that prayer time has started. The iqama calls those present to line up, usually 5 to 25 minutes later, depending on the prayer and the mosque.
Why is the Hijri date different on some websites?
Calendars can differ by a day because some use a calculated calendar and the official date follows the moon sighting. On 5 November 2026, Khaleej Times showed 24 Jumada Al Awwal and Gulf News showed 25 Jumada Al Ula. Follow the official UAE announcement for religious dates.
Who sets prayer times in the UAE?
The General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat sets the national Friday time and announces Eid times. In Dubai, IACAD also publishes prayer times, and news sites such as Emirates 24/7 credit their timetables to it.
Three steps to keep your prayer times right
Select your own city in the widget, not just the nearest big one. Compare your phone app once against the table above, and change its method if Fajr or Isha differs by more than a minute or two. Then read the board at the mosque you attend, because its iqama and Friday arrangements decide when you actually need to be there.
