Luqaimat, also known as Lokma, is a fried, dumpling-like sweet food mostly famous in Dubai and other Middle Eastern regions. The main ingredients incorporated in the preparation and cooking of this food item are finely powdered flour, instant yeast, water to prepare the dough, sugar, and starch. When the dough is ready, it is shaped into small dumplings, which are then fried in vegetable oil and later dipped in sugar syrup or honey for added sweetness.
Luqaimat holds great significance among both local Emiratis and international tourists because of its sweet flavor, crispy exterior, and soft, fluffy interior. This traditional dessert beautifully represents Emirati culture and is commonly enjoyed during special occasions and festivals such as Eid celebrations, weddings, and family gatherings. As a popular example of Dubai Food, Luqaimat can be best experienced at Al Khayma Heritage Restaurant, located on Al Mussallah Road in Dubai.
